Staying on Exmoor allows guests to get out and about. Within easy reach of Litton Farm, which has a great central location in the National Park are several attractions that are well worth a visit, as well as various outdoor activities to keep everyone entertained.
For families with young children you will be amazed by the Quince Honey Farm in South Molton, which has something for all the kids, including a soft play area for toddlers. Alternatively, if you want to learn more about the area and some of its history head to one of the many National Trust managed estates such as Knightshayes, Killerton or Dunster Castle. These extraordinary houses with extensive grounds are ideal for cloudy days with onsite cafes and often different activities suitable for all ages. Seasonal events are also normally offered at the National Trust properties with Easter Egg hunts and meeting Father Christmas some of the most popular for the youngsters.
If you would prefer to get involved in an outdoor activity there are a few that are widely available across Exmoor. Walking is of course the most common with various footpaths winding their way across the National Park, from those that go across open moorland to other that meander past streams. Cycling is also great fun when staying at Litton Farm with the Sustrans Cycle Route accessible at the end of the drive. For those with young children looking to get out and about on a bike, the roads around the farmhouse are mainly level with only a small amount of traffic.
Other activities on Exmoor include horse riding, with several stable yards within easy reach of the farmhouse, which means that even if you aren’t bringing your own horse to the farm, you can still experience this amazing activity when on holiday. For water sport enthusiasts, Wimbleball Lake on the eastern edge of Exmoor is the ideal setting with various water-based activities on offer including kayaking, sailing, rafting and paddle boarding.
